Remember to Take Breaks

Productivity, Relaxation | 0 Comments

Are you the type of person that starts working on something and completely loses track of time? If so, you are just like me. Whenever I start working on a new project, I always seem to work on it from start to finish.

However, taking breaks is an important thing to remember. Breaks give your senses a little time off from constantly working. This is especially true if you spend a lot of time in front of a computer screen.

Starting today, I want you to make it a habit to take breaks often through the day. The time schedule is up to you, but I tend to take a short break for every 1 -2 hours of work.

The key is to just get yourself in the habit of keeping track of time. It is really easy to work all day and completely forget to take a break (or eat).

If you have to, grab a kitchen timer and set it to go off after an hour or so of work. It works really well.

You can start by taking a break right now.

Meditate for 20 Minutes

“Meditation is the tongue of the soul and the language of our spirit.” – Jeremy Taylor

Have you ever meditated before? If so, this will be an easy task for you. Today I want you to meditate for a minimum of 20 minutes. Even if you are not into meditation, I still want to challenge you to give it a shot.

Not only does meditation clear your mind, but it also relaxes the soul. Our lives are filled with clutter, distractions, and endless tasks and we sometimes need to reboot ourselves. By meditating, you can cleanse your mind and get back to being great.

Set aside a block of time and find a nice, quiet, and relaxing place to meditate. You do not have to use candles or music. The important thing is to just close your eyes and have a place to clear your thoughts.

Take Action, No Matter What

“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.” – Benjamin Disraeli

Do you have a lot of plans and ideas on what you want to do with your life? Do you have certain things or tasks you hope to accomplish today, this week, or even this year? My guess is you do.

However, many of us are excellent at making up excuses. We seem to always find ways to avoid taking action. Without action comes no success. It is that simple.

Today I want you to take action in one way, shape or form. It could be something as simple as creating an outline or a step-by-step approach to one of your goals or tasks. Perhaps you could clean out your office area so you can start focusing on your work.

Whatever it may be, just get started. You will more than likely find that once you take action, it tends to grow on you.
